How to See the World was written and is published in the United States of America under constitutional protections of free speech. From the moment I began typing, however, I knew the audience would largely be young people--hence I have endeavored to encourage safety, care, and clear thinking. That my hands wrought better quality more!

Traveling on a minimal budget isn't for everyone, perhaps not for most. Coffee is $5 a cup in Japan. Hitchhiking can instantly cost a life. Thousands of Americans die abroad every year, many more are seriously injured. (For perspective, millions croak at home from natural causes. Americans, among other things, are numerous.)
